Collaborations with Fionnuala Doran
Over July and August this year (2010) I’ve been doing some collaborative work with my sister, fellow artist Fionnuala Doran.
We were invited to collaborate on a new piece of work by the curators of Arrivals a survey of emerging artists in Northern Ireland at the Ormeau Baths Gallery. For the show we created a large scale wall drawing titled The Stars, Like Dust.
There’s more information on the show and the other exciting artists exhibiting on the OBG website.
We’ve also created a new scupltural work for the exhibition Mainland, a show of emerging practices from the island of Ireland curated by 126 Gallery in Galway and shown in E:vent Gallery, London from August through to September.
For the show we recreated a bomb damaged Nelson’s Pillar, which formerly stood on O’Connell Street in Dublin before it was destroyed by the IRA in 1966. Here’s the photo we used as our starting point.
And the actual work as it was shown -
